Minecraft: Pocket Edition added ocean monuments in the 0.16.0 update. While these unique structures have been available in other versions, this is the first time you can explore them in PE. With the addition of the ocean monument, there are new types of blocks (prismarine), new mobs (guardians and elder guardians), and something that makes spawning on an island seed even more exciting.
Minecraft PE 0.16 Seed: 1300752478
You spawn on a small island that’s actually part of a set of islands. These aren’t anything special. They’re made of some sand, dirt, and a couple trees. Even though they’re pretty bland as far as islands go, you can still survive on them with the resources they give.
The Ocean Monument
To find the monument, go to the island that’s in front of the one you spawned on. To the right of that island, you’ll find the ocean monument under the surface of the water. Since this is an underwater structure, it’s hard to get pictures of the monument. As you explore it on your own game, you’ll be able to see the massive building better.
The entrance is lit by rows of arches. If you’ve never explored an ocean monument before, let me warn you about the guardians that protect it. These mobs will kill any player or squid near them, and since they have lasers, you don’t necessarily have to be close for them to attack. Inside the monument, you can also find a few elder guardians, which are larger versions of the mob.
If you can find a way to survive the water and are willing to brave the guardians, you can explore the many corridors of the ocean monument. The whole building is made of prismarine and has a few sea lanterns scattered around. There is also a treasure room with a large pillar of dark prismarine in the center. Inside the pillar, you’ll find eight solid blocks of gold.
Once you survive the exploration of the ocean monument, you can adventure through the rest of the seed. See if you can find any other ocean monuments or other types of interesting structures!
